When you order GHB, you get is a colorless, salty-tasting liquid that is closely related to the human neurotransmitter GABA. In medicine, it is used as a narcotic or to treat narcolepsy. In Austria, the substance is used to treat withdrawal symptoms in alcoholics. Due to some deaths in the USA, the FDA has intensified the contraindications and warnings for GHB. The same applies in a weakened form according to European guidelines. The FDA lists concurrent treatment with opioid analgesics, benzodiazepines, sedating antidepressants, antipsychotics, general anesthetics, and muscle relaxants as relative contraindications. Alcohol consumption is an absolute contraindication.
